Biography-Terry Nadeau

Terry Nadeau

Since she was a young girl participating in her local 4-H club, Terry Nadeau has had a love affair with horses. From apprenticing at a hunter/jumper barn, green-breaking show jumpers to breaking thoroughbred race horses and galloping them at the track, Terry spent much of her time around horses while growing up in a small Massachusetts town.

In addition to the more than 20 years of experience she has gained in the area of breaking and exercising horses, Terry has also put in a lot of her time helping others with abused and troubled horses, giving of her time voluntarily to make certain that horses are not subjected to repeat abuse as well as to instruct a new horse owner in the proper care and maintenance of their large pet. From groups such as Adopt-A-Horse in Massachusetts to the SFSPCA in South Florida after relocating to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area in 1991, Terry has been involved in many horse rescues - including taking on a few of her own on her ranch in western Broward County.

At one point, Terry combined her love for horses with an employment opportunity, taking one of her rescued horses (Calypso) and training it for mounted security with a Chicago-based firm that had had contracts with two local malls. For five years, Terry served as the manager for the company in South Florida with seven employees under her command as well as working as a mounted security guard herself during that time. Terry has also utilized Calypso in another manner - as therapy for a neighbor's autistic child with great results.

While horses are her main interest, Terry is a well-rounded person having been involved in several different groups and organizations, including acting as merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America (in which one of the badges is horsemanship), volunteering at her daughter's school in the clinic and working out at a local kung-fu studio, garnering her first-degree black belt in the process. Within the past year or two, she has also started making rosaries to benefit her family's church - particularly the church's school libraries and music departments.

Terry's mission is to continue with a life of service - service to her family, her neighbors, her community and to her life long friends...... horses.
