Biography-Maggie Oakley

Maggie Oakley

Maggie Oakley’s expertise with horses comes as no surprise, considering who her great-grandmother was: Annie Oakley, the most famous sharpshooter and outdoorswoman that America has ever produced.

From an early age, it was obvious that Maggie had inherited her great-grandmother’s gifts. She fired her first gun at age three, broke her first horse at age four, and gave her first demonstrations in both at age five. Extensive travel followed, and as Maggie grew older, her cross-country exploits became legendary. She shot the ash off a cigarette dangling from the lips of a saloon keeper in Reno, shot a kiwi perched on top of a ranch hand’s head in Pueblo, and in an incident that has since passed into myth, she shot the false eyelashes off of a bordello madam in San Antonio. But despite being blessed with this amazing talent, Maggie yearned for more out of life.

After spending a few years making her living by skinning deer, Maggie decided to devote herself to her first and true passion, training horses, and came to Florida to take Joe Mangravito’s eight week certification course. Since completing the course, Maggie has left her wild ways behind her and works at A Perfect Horse ranch as one of its premier trainers.
